In a bid to promote health and well-being among individuals aged 55 and above, personal trainer James Hilton has introduced “Jim’s Gym,” a virtual fitness platform launched on National Fitness Day, September 20.
Hailing from the picturesque Cotswolds, James Hilton is a seasoned expert in biomechanics and injury recovery. He aims to foster an active, mobile, and happy lifestyle among the older demographic through the innovative Jim’s Gym, an online fitness destination.
Timed to coincide with National Fitness Day, Jim’s Gym extends an exclusive invitation to subscribers, offering access to James Hilton’s expertise. Users will benefit from a library of short fitness videos uploaded on a weekly or monthly basis, designed to facilitate both the initiation of physical activity and the maintenance of an active lifestyle.
This year’s National Fitness Day theme, “Your Health is for Life,” underscores the importance of engaging individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities in the physical and mental advantages of an active lifestyle.
James Hilton, founder of Jim’s Gym, commented, “While we are constantly reminded of the mental and physical rewards of exercise, the challenge lies in sustaining individuals’ commitment to an active lifestyle. When older adults are advised by healthcare professionals to ‘be more active,’ they often lack guidance and support on how to accomplish this. I firmly believe that taking even a small step towards increased physical activity is a significant beginning.”
Hilton has undergone extensive training with Faster Function, a reputable company specializing in programming and exercise design. His focus now centers on empowering people to optimize their everyday lives.
He added, “I have a profound affinity for working with older adults, especially those embarking on a new fitness journey. Witnessing individuals achieve feats they never thought possible is truly rewarding. Moreover, I take pride in making exercise accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”
James Hilton’s journey to becoming a certified personal trainer was far from straightforward. Despite his passion for sports and exercise, he initially pursued a career in sales and marketing in London, which required extensive international travel. During this period, he abandoned exercise to meet the demands of his job, leading to a decline in both his confidence and mental well-being. Ultimately, this took a toll on his family life. However, he made a pivotal decision to leave his career and embark on a transformative journey with his family to New Zealand and Bali, a period he humorously refers to as his ‘Eat Pray Love’ moment.
“While abroad, I rediscovered the joy of running and exercise for leisure, rekindling the significance of fitness in my life that I had lost sight of,” Hilton recalled. “As my family and I began to heal from that challenging period, I questioned whether I could assist others through fitness.”
With the unwavering support of his family, James Hilton returned to his roots in the South Cotswolds, where he grew up. He subsequently obtained his personal trainer certification and rapidly established his own business.
Fast forward four years, and Hilton is now embarking on his latest venture with the launch of Jim’s Gym. This online fitness subscription service is tailored to inspire older adults to maintain a healthy, active, and independent lifestyle for an extended period.
James Hilton aims to empower his new community to attain fitness levels that enable them to carry out everyday activities with ease, renew their energy, and enjoy pursuits like gardening or spending time with grandchildren.
He concluded, “Most importantly, I’ve designed the workouts to be simple, effective, and enjoyable, so my clients won’t even realize they are exercising.”
