Local authorities are in pursuit of an individual who allegedly engaged in lewd behavior by exposing himself to staff at a Nanaimo gym after being denied entry.
According to Nanaimo RCMP Res. Cst. Gary O’Brienwhen the suspect attempted to access Fitness World at Country Club Centre on the N. Island Hwy. However, he was denied entry due to apparent intoxication.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the refusal, the suspect reportedly retreated outside, where he proceeded to forcefully bang on the gym doors. In a disturbing turn of events, he then dropped his pants, exposing himself to the front counter staff.
Adding to the alarming nature of the incident, it was reported that the suspect was carrying a sword on his back.
Despite the prompt contact made by the gym staff with the local authorities, the suspect had vanished by the time police arrived, mere minutes later.
Res. Cst. O’Brien provided a description of the suspect, identifying him as a Caucasian man with average height and weight, brown hair, and a beard.
In the ongoing investigation, police have circulated the suspect’s description among their ranks, reaching over 160 officers, but as of now, there have been no identifications.
“He’s obviously not on our radar, or he’s from somewhere else,” remarked Res. Cst. O’Brien, emphasizing the elusive nature of the individual in question. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist in their efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect.
