Fitness enthusiasts in Rochford can now enjoy cutting-edge gym facilities at the Rayleigh and Clements Hall Leisure Centres, following the completion of a major investment project.
The upgrades began after Everyone Active took over the management of the centres on April 1, under a 15-year contract with Rochford District Council and Brentwood Borough Council. Since then, both gyms have undergone significant transformations, with the installation of state-of-the-art equipment designed to cater to all fitness levels.
New additions include advanced cardio machines such as treadmills, cross trainers, rowing machines, and wattbikes. The free weights areas have also been expanded, now offering a wide range of dumbbells, Olympic bars, and plate-loaded equipment. To further enhance strength training options, a selection of cable machines has been installed for targeted muscle exercises.
The group exercise studios have been upgraded with new equipment and sound systems, while the cycling area now features brand-new bikes.
In addition to the gym improvements, Everyone Active has introduced Poolview technology at Clements Hall Leisure Centre and The Brentwood Centre. This £170,000 investment enhances safety measures by using underwater cameras to monitor pool activity. The technology provides lifeguards with real-time visibility beneath the water’s surface, improving swimmer safety without replacing traditional lifeguards.
Shaun Beagle, Area Contract Manager at Everyone Active, expressed his excitement about the new facilities: “We’re thrilled to present these fantastic upgrades to the local community. The transformation has been incredible, and the feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive. We encourage everyone to come and see the improvements for themselves. Our team is ready to welcome you and help you make the most of these new offerings.”
Carol Baker, a regular at Rayleigh Leisure Centre, shared her thoughts: “The new equipment at Rayleigh is a huge positive. The variety available is impressive, and it’s clear that Everyone Active is committed to providing top-quality facilities for both customers and staff.”
Councillor Lisa Newport, Chair of the Community, Wellbeing and Housing Committee at Rochford District Council, praised the transformation: “It’s fantastic to see both the Rayleigh and Clements Hall gyms upgraded to such a high standard in such a short time. The addition of Poolview technology is an excellent safety measure for swimmers. Our partnership with Everyone Active is a key step in improving leisure services in our district, ensuring residents have access to quality facilities that promote health and well-being.”
The upgrades mark a swift and significant delivery on Everyone Active’s promises made during the joint procurement process with Rochford District and Brentwood Borough Councils earlier this year.
