Lucknow University has found a new star in its yoga department – 23-year-old Stanislav Pavlovich Karausov from Yekaterinburg, Russia. Stan, as he is fondly called by friends and faculty, has embarked on a unique journey pursuing a BA in yoga, making him the only foreign student in the department.
Despite the language barrier, Stan has quickly adapted to his new environment, showcasing a remarkable proficiency in yoga asanas. His dedication, punctuality, and eagerness to learn Hindi have not gone unnoticed, earning him admiration from both his Indian peers and the faculty.
Stan’s interest in yoga stems from a broader love for physical recreational exercises. He believes that yoga, as a form of recreational therapy, offers numerous benefits including relaxation, improved flexibility, enhanced focus, and increased lung capacity. His ultimate goal is to build a career in yoga, a decision influenced by a relative’s recommendation to pursue his studies at Lucknow University.
For Stan, yoga embodies the essence of holistic well-being, encompassing physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation. Through these practices, he seeks to harmonize his body, mind, and breath.
Stanislav’s parents, Pavel Olegovich Karausov and Nadezhda Vasilievna Karausova, have been supportive of his passion for yoga. His father, who heads a travel agency, and his mother, who heads a kindergarten school, have encouraged him to follow his dreams.
Amarjeet Yadav, assistant professor in the yoga department, describes Stanislav as a quick learner, emphasizing his remarkable grasp of asanas. He also praises Stan’s punctuality and dedication to his yoga classes, noting that Stan actively participates in Indian festivals and cultural activities, showcasing his integration with the local culture.
As Stanislav continues his journey in yoga at Lucknow University, his story serves as an inspiring example of passion, dedication, and cross-cultural exchange.
