In response to the growing demand for medically managed weight loss services, the Center for Weight Management at Desert Regional Medical Center is relocating to a larger facility. The new Center, now situated at El Mirador Medical Plaza, 1180 N. Indian Canyon Dr., Ste. E419, Palm Springs, will celebrate its grand opening with an Open House event on Thursday, July 18, from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M.
The event will feature opening remarks at 4:15 P.M., followed by opportunities to meet with obesity medicine specialists, hospital officials, and patients who will share their personal weight management journeys. Attendees can enjoy light snacks and refreshments while learning about the Center’s expanded offerings.
“We are excited to welcome the public to our new, modern facility, designed to better meet the needs of our growing patient population,” stated Rachel Millard, DNP, Director of the Center for Weight Management.
The Center provides comprehensive, medically supervised weight loss and bariatric surgery programs aimed at reducing health conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, depression, and joint problems. The dedicated staff includes a weight loss surgeon, registered dietitian, registered nurses, and other highly trained professionals.
The new location boasts nearly three times the space of the previous facility in the Jerry Stergios Building. While the former center could accommodate fewer than 100 patients per month, the new 2,300-square-foot clinic can now serve up to 600 patients monthly.
“The increasing number of patients is partly due to heightened media attention on the benefits of sustainable weight loss through supervised programs with bariatric specialists,” Millard explained.
The new facility includes a spacious waiting area, four exam rooms, three offices, and a nurse’s station. These improvements allow the staff to manage multiple appointments simultaneously and provide services such as IV hydration, weight management injections, and consultations in dedicated spaces.
Desert Regional Medical Center’s expansion marks a significant step forward in addressing the healthcare needs of those seeking medically managed weight loss solutions.
