Young Woman Loses 10 kg in Seven Months Through Balanced Diet and Exercise

by Daisy

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Huynh, 25, has achieved a remarkable transformation by reducing her weight from 61 kg to 51 kg over seven months through a disciplined regimen of healthy eating and regular exercise. Her journey began during her final year of high school when she became dissatisfied with her body, noticing unwanted fat accumulation despite being 1.63 m tall and weighing 54 kg.

Huynh recalled struggling with self-image issues, particularly when trying to fit into traditional Vietnamese attire, or ao dai. Initially, she experimented with various weight loss methods including fasting, carbohydrate elimination, and weight loss pills. These approaches, however, were unsuccessful, often leaving her feeling irritable and exhausted.

Desperate for results, Huynh turned to online weight loss products such as coffee-based supplements, pills, and powders, but these only led to temporary weight loss and a host of health problems, including stomach ulcers, acid reflux, hair loss, and missed menstrual cycles. She described this period as distressing and emotionally draining.

Realizing that sustainable weight loss required a more balanced approach, Huynh shifted away from quick fixes and developed a personalized plan that emphasized a well-rounded diet. She included all food groups, focusing on fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, and healthy fats while avoiding fast foods, processed items, and sweets. This approach not only helped her manage hunger and cravings but also allowed for better calorie control.

By cooking at home and limiting dining out, Huynh found that she could better manage her calorie intake and maintain her weight loss efforts long-term. She adopted cooking methods such as steaming, boiling, and using an air fryer, prioritizing white meats, green vegetables, and whole grains. Additionally, she committed to drinking around two liters of water daily and ensuring she went to bed before 11 p.m. to support overall health and skin condition.

Huynh’s exercise routine, which included resistance training and cardio three to four times a week, complemented her dietary changes. Regular exercise helped her manage cholesterol levels, reduce fat, and build muscle. Studies, such as one published in BMC Public Health, highlight that combining aerobic and resistance training is particularly effective for weight loss and cardiovascular health.

Dr. Do Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice President of the Vietnam Nutrition Association, underscores the importance of a balanced diet that includes proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products. She warns against the risks of excluding any nutrient group, which can lead to fatigue, nutritional deficiencies, and a weakened immune system.

Huynh’s transformation has not only improved her health but also inspired her to pursue a career as a professional fitness trainer. She shares her weight loss journey and healthy meal tips through a popular online account, which has garnered millions of views and positive feedback.

Reflecting on her journey, Huynh states, “The goal is to become the best version of myself, to be healthy, and to enjoy life because I deserve it.”
