PINEVILLE, La. (LCU News) – As October approaches, Louisiana Christian University is gearing up for its annual ‘Walktober’ fitness initiative, inviting the community to take part in this fall-themed challenge.
Running from October 1 to October 31, ‘Walktober’ encourages participants to log their steps or minutes of physical activity on a daily basis. The top three overall participants will receive prizes, along with awards for individuals in each age category who log the most steps.
This year’s challenge is free and welcomes participants of all ages, divided into male and female categories: 10–14, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+.
To register for ‘Walktober,’ interested individuals can visit the wellness program section of the LCU website. Participants are encouraged to utilize a fitness tracker or a mobile app to keep track of their daily activity, logging their steps or minutes in the ‘Walktober’ log. Each week, they will receive an email with a link to report their accumulated totals.
All forms of physical activity are valid for the challenge. A step equivalency chart is available to help participants convert various exercises into step counts.
For those seeking a venue to stay active, the Parrish Fuller Fitness Trail, a 0.4-mile track equipped with fitness stations, is open to the public on the LCU campus. Participants are invited to make use of this facility as they engage in the ‘Walktober’ challenge.
