She believes that the 5:2 diet, popularized by Dr. Michael Mosley, significantly contributed to her health decline. The 5:2 diet involves eating normally for five days of the week and severely restricting calorie intake on two non-consecutive days.
Initially, Dr. Cox reported positive effects from the diet, including a weight loss of one stone and improved overall feelings. Dr. Cox now attributes her ALS diagnosis to intermittent fasting, asserting that her previous diet of carbohydrates and sugars was instrumental in keeping her condition under control.
