Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar has dismissed speculation surrounding his dramatic weight loss, asserting that his transformation is purely the result of a disciplined lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise. His leaner physique has become a talking point at the 25th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, currently taking place in Jaipur.
Speaking on the IIFA 2025 green carpet, Johar emphasized his commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. “It’s about being healthy, eating well, exercising, and doing your best to look good,” he stated. However, he playfully declined to reveal his daily regimen, quipping, “If I tell you, I will give my secret away.”
His comments come in the wake of speculation that he may have used Ozempic, a diabetes medication increasingly associated with weight loss. These rumors intensified after actress Maheep Kapoor publicly criticized individuals resorting to the drug for shedding pounds. Addressing the conjecture, Johar previously clarified via an Instagram story—now unavailable—that his weight loss was solely attributed to his dedication to health and wellness.
Beyond his personal transformation, Johar remains engrossed in multiple projects. The director of the iconic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is set to produce a high-octane action film helmed by Malayalam filmmaker Haneef Adeni, known for his recent success Marco. The film, which is yet to be titled, will be released in Hindi and multiple other languages.
Meanwhile, the IIFA 2025 celebrations continue with an array of special events. The grand awards night on March 9 will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Bollywood film Sholay, featuring an exclusive screening at Jaipur’s historic Raj Mandir Cinema. The event will also see a special appearance by legendary MMA fighter Anthony Pettis.
This year, Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan will host the prestigious ceremony, while Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to deliver a tribute performance in honor of her grandfather, the legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor. Kapoor recently turned heads at the IIFA Digital Awards, stunning audiences in a red and gold ensemble.
With the awards in full swing, the 25th edition of IIFA continues to celebrate cinematic excellence while honoring the industry’s rich legacy.
