Comedian Amy Schumer is among the few celebrities openly discussing their use of weight loss medications. The 43-year-old actress recently shared her experience with Mounjaro, a drug primarily prescribed for type 2 diabetes but also recognized for its weight loss benefits.
Schumer, known for her candid humor, took to Instagram to reveal how the medication, along with estrogen and progesterone hormones, has helped her manage perimenopause symptoms. In a video filmed from her car, she detailed the positive impact of her regimen, including improved energy levels, better skin, fuller hair, and even a revitalized sex life. “I want to ‘get down’ more, if you know what I mean,” she joked.
Her journey with weight loss medications hasn’t always been smooth. She recalled struggling with severe nausea when taking Wegovy three years ago, an experience that ultimately led her to stop using it. However, Mounjaro has proven to be a much better fit for her.
Schumer also acknowledged the financial hurdles associated with the drug, pointing out that it is typically not covered by insurance unless prescribed for diabetes or severe obesity. Despite this, she remains enthusiastic about the results and has even invested in Midi Health, the virtual care clinic that provided her prescription.
While embracing these changes in her health, Schumer reassured her followers that she has no plans to alter her natural look with cosmetic procedures. With her signature wit, she quipped, “I want to commit to you that I will never get lip fillers, so you can always enjoy that I have no top lip.”
