Actor Pooja Chopra is known for her healthy approach to fitness and wellness. While many people turn to trendy diets like keto or intermittent fasting to stay fit, and even celebrities use weight loss drugs such as Ozempic, Pooja prefers to embrace a balanced and mindful approach to maintaining her body.
Rejecting Fad Diets
In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Pooja, who was crowned Miss India World in 2009 and represented India at Miss World the same year, shared that she has never relied on fad diets. She explained, “I don’t try fad diets because I know what works for me and what doesn’t. Why should I take a chance? I take immense pride in saying I’ve never fallen prey to any of that.”
For Pooja, self-love and body ownership are central to her lifestyle. She practices moderation and listens to her body, eating regularly but not overindulging. “I eat everything, but I eat in moderation. I have to eat every 2-3 hours, whether it’s a banana, cucumber, or chocolate. I like to eat until I’m almost full but I never overeat,” she says.
Pooja values flexibility in her diet and enjoys the occasional treat. She adds, “I hate being habituated to anything. If I’m on a holiday, I’ll enjoy sweets like gulab jamun or ras malai. But at home, I stick to healthy eating.”
Pooja’s Daily Diet
Pooja’s daily meals reflect her commitment to health without obsessing over food. She starts her mornings with coconut water, which she says hydrates and cools her body. For breakfast, she enjoys a variety of healthy options, such as sweet potato paratha, upma, avocado toast, or idli-dosa.
As someone allergic to gluten, Pooja avoids wheat. For lunch, she has ragi roti or brown rice with dal or sabzi. Dinner consists of a salad with chickpeas, broccoli, or other vegetables, or a soup made with beetroot, tomato, or spinach. She also enjoys vegetable juice made with cucumber, beetroot, and carrot between her workouts and meals, and sometimes follows up with a protein shake post-workout.
Pooja’s Exercise Routine
Pooja is equally dedicated to her fitness routine. She works out five days a week, with two days dedicated to rest. While she trains at the gym, Pooja also enjoys variety in her workouts to avoid monotony. Her routines include swimming, kickboxing, weight training, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). She particularly enjoys spinning, noting how it targets her abs, glutes, and lower body.
Excited about adding badminton and squash to her fitness repertoire, Pooja remains committed to staying active and constantly evolving her exercise routine.
Mental Wellness Through Meditation
Meditation has become an essential part of Pooja’s daily life to manage stress and boost her energy. She meditates every morning before anything else. “It has helped me calm down,” she says. Pooja practices meditation for about 10 minutes in her living room each morning at around 7:30 am, and she has noticed significant benefits for her mental well-being.
Pooja’s Beauty Secrets
Pooja also takes a minimalistic approach to skincare. “My skin is very sensitive, and I can’t even use sunscreen,” she reveals. She keeps her skincare routine simple, using only a face wash to cleanse and remove makeup. Occasionally, she applies an oats scrub or a sugar-water mixture to her face. Before applying makeup for shoots, she refreshes her skin by dunking her face in iced water and uses gua sha to enhance her complexion.
Pooja Chopra’s holistic approach to health, fitness, and wellness highlights the importance of listening to one’s body and making mindful decisions that align with individual needs.
