Fitness enthusiasts in Rochford can now enjoy upgraded gym facilities at two local leisure centres in south Essex. Rayleigh and Clements Hall Leisure Centres have unveiled brand-new equipment as part of a significant investment in their fitness offerings.
The improvements come after Everyone Active assumed management of the centres, following a new 15-year contract with Rochford District Council and Brentwood Borough Council. This upgrade is part of a broader plan to enhance the fitness experience for local residents.
Both gyms have undergone extensive transformations, now featuring cutting-edge equipment designed to cater to a wide range of fitness levels. Members can now access advanced cardio machines, including treadmills, cross trainers, rowing machines, and Wattbikes. Rayleigh Leisure Centre, in particular, has added new treadmills and rowers to its lineup.
The free weights areas have also been revamped, with an expanded range of dumbbells, Olympic bars, and plate-loaded equipment. Additionally, both centres have introduced new cable machines, allowing for a broader variety of exercises targeting different muscle groups.
Group exercise studios have also been updated, with new equipment and improved sound systems. The group cycling facilities at both centres now feature state-of-the-art bikes for an enhanced cycling experience.
Shaun Beagle, area contract manager at Everyone Active, expressed excitement over the upgrades. “We are thrilled to introduce these exceptional new facilities to the community,” he said. “The transformation has been incredible, and the feedback from members has been fantastic. We invite the local community to visit and see the improvements for themselves.”
Alongside the gym upgrades, Everyone Active has invested £170,000 in enhanced safety measures. At both Clements Hall Leisure Centre and The Brentwood Centre, new Poolview technology has been installed. This system uses underwater cameras to monitor pool activity, providing lifeguards with real-time visibility below the surface. While it enhances swimmer safety, it does not replace traditional lifeguarding.
Carol Baker, a regular gym-goer at Rayleigh Leisure Centre, praised the improvements. “Everyone Active’s involvement in Rayleigh is a huge positive,” she said. “The variety of equipment now available in the gym caters to everyone, and the refurbishment shows a strong commitment to both customers and staff.”
With these significant upgrades, local residents can look forward to a more diverse and engaging fitness experience.
