Starting next month, outdoor yoga sessions will be held across parks in Kendal, Cockermouth, Ulverston, Carlisle, and Askham. Organized by the Cumbria Yoga Foundation, the initiative aims to make yoga accessible and welcoming to people of all backgrounds.
The one-hour sessions, which are open to individuals of all experience levels, are designed to bring the physical, emotional, and social benefits of yoga to local communities and visitors this summer. The foundation hopes the program will provide a mindful activity for those looking to connect with nature and each other.
Caroline Robinson, from the Cumbria Yoga Foundation, explained, “Our goal is to create a supportive environment where people from all walks of life can enjoy yoga’s benefits. Bringing people together in these scenic outdoor locations fosters not just individual wellbeing, but also a sense of community.”
Tickets are priced at £8 for full access, with discounted rates of £4 for concessions. Further reductions are available for students, low-income individuals, single-adult households, and those over 65 with financial challenges. The full-price tickets also include a ‘pay it forward’ option, funding free spaces for those facing financial or health-related difficulties.
The sessions will begin in May 2025 and continue throughout the summer. For more details, visit cumbriayogafoundation.org/yogainthepark.
